Central Valley
K-12 Schools Energy Efficiency Program

The California Integrated Wate Management Board is sponsoring ADM's effort to provide the Schols Energy Efficiency (SEE) Program, which offers a variety of educational resources to teach students about energy. The program also provides technical support to help schools with energy-efficient facility upgrades.

Education - Teaching Students and Teachers about Energy Efficiency

  • Teaching students about energy efficiency through energy patrols, energy audits, and project-based learning.
  • Integrating energy projects into district or community events, such as science or environmental fairs.
  • Applying what students have learned about energy efficiency to help their families reduce energy use at home.
  • Sponsoring teacher professional development workshops, specifically on energy and environmental education.
  • Recommending energy education resources that complement school curriculum plans, needs and budgets.

Facility Improvement Services

  • Training facility staff on energy efficient technologies and building practices that reduce energy use.
  • Benchmarking and tracking energy use of district buildings to prioritize energy-efficiency investments.
  • Providing comprehensive building energy audits, and developing energy efficient retrofit projects.
  • Learning how to secure additional project funding.
  • Developing a technology demonstration classroom, to showcase the installation, operation and maintenance of energy efficient technologies.
